Camera Practice

OOOH, I'm lovin my new 50mm 1.4 lens. What a great anniversary/birthday gift! Just check out the bokah on the first 2 pics. Now I can FINALLY take indoor pictures without a flash. So look forward to LOTS more family pics. I can tell you're just bursting with anticipation.

Friday Morning

Look at my fancy new shirt!
This is what I get when I ask for a "nice smile"

A picture of curly o' Mirock. The hair actually gets much curlier than this when it is humid out!

That's right. I make my children wear their pj's until they literally bust out of them.

It's 9a.m. I have my jammies on. The grass is wet. But, look at that swingset mom, it's just begging me to come play!

My 3 Gardeners

We've been doing lots of gardening around here (by we, I mean Chad. You can clearly see that I was much too busy photographing the event to get down and dirty). I may do the daily cooking, cleaning and childrearing, but I do not garden. It seems like something I should enjoy, but I just don't. Thankfully, Chad does enjoy it, and he has 2 willing little assistants. Pierce likes to remind me that he is a "gentleman farmer", not a gardener. Little Asher just likes to be where the action (and the dirt) are.

Mother's Day

Look closely. You can see those sweet brothers kissing through the glass.

Asher, pointing at the wind.
Here are my sweet boys on Mother's Day. They LOVE to play outside, but mostly I think they like getting filthy. Asher definitely wins the award for the biggest dirt monkey and has been requiring nightly scrub downs.
We had a nice quiet Mother's Day. I think Pierce summed it up pretty nicely when he called grandma this morning. Hello, Grandma? It's Mother's Day. It's nice to meet you.

Cakes, Cakes and WHAT?

My first cake, prior to lessons
1st class cake (Randy is a coworker of Chad's)

Creepish Clown Cake #1 (per Pierce's request)

Class clown cake (per the teacher's request)

Finale Class Cake

Baby Shower Cupcakes

Do I really need to describe?

I finished my Wilton Course 1 cake decorating class and learned a lot along the way. I posted a progression of photos (and just in case you are wondering, I DID NOT choose the clown theme, it was the class assignment. If you ask me they are creepy and look like they are straight out the 70's). Chad particularly liked my second clown cake and told me that the clown I made lying on his stomach looked like a lobster. Unfortunately, I can't say he was wrong.
The final 3 pictures are baby shower cupcakes (my first cake job!), and just in case you were wondering they were for the local La Leche group and the booby cupcakes were their request. I have to say, they came out amazingly realistic, even if they did turn out to be a little more "stripper" and a little less "la leche" than I wanted!
